Who We Are Michael Maglaras & Company is an international insurance consulting firm specializing in providing self-insurance and other alternatives to traditional insurance programs for a variety of clients. Michael Maglaras & Company was founded in 1988 by its principal Michael Maglaras. Since then, the Company has been providing specialized insurance consulting services which emphasize a high degree of self-insurance and the pre-funding of anticipated loss using one or more of the following alternatives: captive insurance companies, rent-a-captive programs, qualified self-insurance and funded deductible programs, loss sensitive or retrospectively rated programs. Michael Maglaras has formed more than 125 captive insurance companies in all the major domiciles.
We specialize in medical professional liability, workers compensation, product liability, construction liability, and all forms of the self-insurance of employee benefit programs. We also specialize in the review of total insurance portfolios with an eye to which coverages or programs might qualify for self-insurance using one or more of the means noted above. Among the programs of insurance in which Michael Maglaras & Company specializes, are alternatives to traditional workers compensation insurance which utilize qualified self-insurance and unbundled services. Michael Maglaras & Company creates these alternatives within a framework of managed-care and cost containment which require a high degree of employer involvement. These alternative programs may utilize an equity captive arrangement, or may be placed through an existing rent-a-captive facility. In either case, Michael Maglaras & Company provides implementation, organization and liaison services throughout each phase of the project.
At Michael Maglaras & Company, we also provide the following consulting services to clients nationwide:
